Fence Permitting in Hoover & Birmingham, AL

Building a fence in Hoover or Birmingham without the proper permits can result in fines, required removal, and expensive headaches. At 76 Fence Iron City, we handle the entire permitting process for you, ensuring your fence is fully compliant with local building codes, zoning regulations, and HOA requirements before a single post goes in the ground.

The City of Hoover, City of Birmingham, and surrounding municipalities each have their own fence permit requirements. We know these regulations inside and out and handle permits for every fence we install as part of our standard service — at no additional charge.

Fence permitting in Hoover requires submitting a site plan showing the fence location, height, material, and distance from property lines. The City of Hoover has specific setback requirements — typically fences cannot be placed on property lines but must be set back a specified distance. Front yard fences have additional height restrictions, usually limited to 4 feet.

Birmingham and other metro area cities have similar requirements with their own specific regulations. Some areas have additional restrictions in historic districts, near waterways, or in flood zones. Our team navigates all of these requirements seamlessly.

Before every installation, we coordinate with Alabama 811 to have underground utility lines marked to prevent dangerous and costly utility strikes during post installation. We also verify property boundaries using your survey or plat to ensure your fence is placed correctly. All of this is included as part of our complete fence installation service — no hidden permit fees or surprise charges.
